About Us

Why it’s important

Endometriosis is a complex and debilitating chronic condition that can be hard to diagnose, with those suffering waiting an average of 7 years before diagnosis. It is a progressive condition that can start at puberty and continue through to old age. In Australia it affects at least one in nine girls, women and those assigned female at birth.

Goals

The Pelvic Pain Clinic will provide multidisciplinary care with a focus on:

  • Improving the timeliness of diagnosis.
  • Promoting early access to intervention, care, treatment options, and referral services for endometriosis and pelvic pain.
  • Providing a multi-disciplinary, holistic approach to management of endometriosis and pelvic pain.
Fees

Funding does not support GP appointments and The Garden Family Medical Clinic is a private clinic, however we do offer mixed billing opportunities for patients who hold an up-to-date health care card or pension card.

  • Initial GP appointments last around 60-minutes and will be $250 minus a Medicare rebate
    • A $100 deposit is required to secure your booking. This will be credited towards the total fee on the day of your appointment. For HCC/Pension Card holders, this will be refunded on the day of your appointment. You will lose your deposit in the event of cancellation less than 48 hours prior or failure to attend your appointment.
    • Follow up appointments will generally be shorter and billed at standard clinic fees
    • Health care card and pension card holders may be bulk billed between 1pm and 4.30pm Monday to Friday
    • Care plans are bulk billed for all patients
  • Two initial pelvic Physiotherapist appointments with our in-house specialist Physiotherapist, Siobhan, will be heavily subsidised by the grant.
    • Pelvic Pain Clinic patients will pay a $50 fee each of the 75-minute initial and 30-minute follow-up sessions.
    • Subsequent sessions will be privately billed at $110
    • This subsidy will reduce patient out-of-pocket cost to $50 for each of the sessions.
  • Our nurse screening calls and follow up support calls are all completely funded by the grant
